TAPA is pleased to present the 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk benefiting TAPA’s political action committee (PAC). Join fellow runners and walkers as we raise money for a great cause. The race course will wind through scenic Gatlinburg. Come and enjoy a beautiful, brisk fall morning. The race will be held Thursday, Oct. 8. Check in is at 6 a.m., with the race beginning at 6:30 a.m. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 onsite. The student rate is $15. All participants will receive a complimentary t-shirt.

Each year, TAPA strives to provide quality educational programs to members while also providing opportunities for fellow members to network with one another. This year, we are pleased to return to the beautiful Smoky Mountains for our annual fall meeting.

On behalf of TAPA, I would like to invite each of you to make plans to attend FallFest, Oct. 5-9, 2009. We will provide education on timely and important topics and will be bringing in knowledgeable and respected presenters. TAPA is making application to offer a maximum of 33 hours of Category I CME.

In addition to outstanding education, attendees will have plenty of networking opportunities and will get to see the latest and greatest products and services in the ever-expanding exhibit hall. FallFest is presented by a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing you the best return on your CME investment. I hope you will all join us this October!

FallFest 2009 is the 33rd annual continuing medical education conference focusing on primary care medicine, this year featuring:

  • Total of 33 hours of Category I CME will be applied for through the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)
  • Intrauterine Contraceptives Workshop
  • Special Workshop for PA Students
  • Orthopedic Workshop
  • Lunch and Learn Opportunities

New to FallFest? New to TAPA? Come join TAPA members and non-members and get to know the
attendees you will be spending the week with. This is a great opportunity to meet with the TAPA
board, colleagues, and make some new friends. There will also be a Silent Auction to benefit the
PA Foundation so be sure to check out the unique items.

Lunch and Learn Opportunities

Tuesday
We are pleased to provide the AAPA’s Chapter Product Theater Series (CPTS) program again this year during Tuesday’s lunch break. The CPTS session is not approved for CME credit as it is promotional in nature. Tentative topic: A New Era In Pain Management: An Advance in Multimodal Analgesic Therapy. This program is supported by PriCara, division of Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Wednesday
Wednesday’s lunch is provided by Eli Lilly and Company and is intended for healthcare professionals treating patients 18 years of age and older. Tentative topic: Understanding the Impact of Gender on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Depression.
This is a non-accredited educational presentation.

There are no fees associated with these lectures. Pre-registration required.

TAPA Family Night: In the Great Mountain Air, Townsend
Wednesday

Come spend an evening on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains in Townsend, Tennessee. The evening will be laid back and casual to give you time to soak in the beautiful scenery of the mountains, relax on a hayride, listen to some bluegrass music and enjoy the tasting of down-home bar-b-que. Be sure to bring your casual shirt, comfy jeans and most comfortable shoes as we will be sitting among the stars in the Lily Barn, a 120 year old cantilever barn that sits among a 3-acre perennial garden. In addition to the barn, there is a pond and an evergreen maze for children of all ages.

Legislative Luncheon
Thursday

A guest speaker will provide updates on the political climate for PAs in Tennessee. Pre-registration required.

Military Breakfast
Friday

As a tribute to our active and veteran military servicemen and women, TAPA will host a Military Breakfast. No fee. Pre-registration is required.
