Workshops

Workshops will be held throughout the day on Thursday, Oct. 22. Space is limited in each workshop to just 25 attendees, so register early to claim a spot!

  • Fundamentals of Aesthetic Neurotoxins: PAs interested in learning more about using neurotoxins for aesthetic procedures will greatly benefit from this workshop. Attendees will learn about the mechanism of action, longevity, and spread of various neurotoxins and review facial anatomy as it pertains to on-label treatment areas for cosmetic neurotoxins. Workshop attendees will learn to perform an aesthetic consultation including pertinent medical history, contraindications, and facial movement analysis; develop an individualized treatment plan for neurotoxin injections based on patient's anatomy and goals; and provide education to patients on pre- and post-treatment instructions, outcomes, and potential side effects. (2 hours: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.) Fee: $75
  • Upper and Lower Extremity Physical Exam Lab: This 4-hour workshop will focus on physical exam techniques for upper and lower extremities. The workshop will be divided into two 2-hour blocks, with one block focusing on upper extremities and the other block focusing on lower extremities. This workshop is ideal for PAs who are interested in or new to orthopedics. Workshop attendees working in urgent care, primary care, and emergency medicine will also benefit from this review of exam techniques as they learn standard procedures and practice these skills. (4 hours: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; 1-3 p.m.) Fee: $150
  • Ultrasound Workshop: During this workshop, PAs will learn the basic principles of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), including proper probe positioning and image acquisition techniques, performing focused ultrasound examinations relevant to primary care, performing and interpreting a focused FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) examination and integrating POCUS findings into clinical decision-making. This is an excellent workshop for PAs who may not have received POCUS training while in PA school. (2 hours: 1-3 p.m.) Fee: $75
  • BLS Certification/Recertification: Complete or renew your BLS certification at FallFest. Brush up on performing 1- and 2-rescurer CPR for adults, children, and infants; AED and bag masks use; rescue breathing; and performing the Heimlich maneuver. (2 hours: 3:30-5:30 p.m.) Fee: $75

PA Student Track

TAPA is pleased to once again offer programming specifically geared toward PA students. On Friday, Oct. 23, the Student Track will offer lectures designed specifically for PA students, as well as hands-on workshops featuring suturing, ultrasound techniques, and joint injections.

The day will conclude with TAPA’s Annual Challenge Bowl, where teams from PA programs from across the state will compete against one another and show off their clinical knowledge.

Annual Poster Session

Each year at FallFest, TAPA gives PAs and PA students the opportunity to present their research to their colleagues during the Annual Poster Session. Posters are displayed Friday through Sunday, and authors are present to talk about and answer questions regarding their work during breakfast from 7-8 a.m. on Saturday morning. Click here to download the Poster Session guidelines if you are interested in presenting this year.
